No news is bad news - TV, as well as the political agreement

During the time that Bill Clinton was rocking the Party Congress of Democrats, ABC, CBS, redial showed Fox, NBC showed the second hour of "America's got talent" and the CW was the second season finale of ' pussycat dolls present: Girlicious. "

The networks of the conventions of gavel to gavel coverage was less than two decades ago. This year, the nets are only four hour prime time coverage give each Convention.

The first televised conventions were 1948 in Philadelphia. Currently only about 170,000 of the nation had television 42.2 million households. The networks desperately to fill their Government-issued ether the nation asked to believe that television up-to-date in the future. TV requires politicians; Politicians were not so sure that TV needs. From 1960 more than 46 million of the nation 58 million households had at least a television, and most stations were broadcasting at least 16 hours a day. If someone doubted the potential and power of television, it was that year during the Nixon-Kennedy Fernsehdebatten raised which gave a lead the Massachusetts Senator, he never lost. Eight years later, chance, Richard Nixon, took to the cameras the Chicago riots that credibility give anti-war movement and virtually destroy the Democrats defeat, although the Liberals Hubert Humphrey reaction of police and Mayor Richard Daley's lamented iron fist tactics.

Once candidates for President for the Convention itself, identified the parties previously not months in the media-enhanced primary campaigns. Dressed on the floor of the Convention, we at home on 17 TV sets, looked forward to the roll-call, as each State of Chairman until State in General, to hear something red white and outrageous, and for all America said something to the effect: "Mr Chairman, that great and glorious state of gLobule Gulch, home to more than 50 hot dog stands per square mile and the most beautiful women on Earth, the place where George Washington once slept, where cows peacefully on our healthy grass, browse 85 votes for his favorite son proud it raises Governor Lushpuppy billings."

From the late 1980s TV more demanded and Prime time began more and the party leaders stage shows, play TV prime time needs.

Past the spontaneous floor events where delegates March, laugh, perhaps argue with each other and actually participate helping form are the direction of your party even if the candidate was an incumbent President. Know anyone from the party platform and his planks now? Anyone even care? The signs on the floor of the Convention are cookie-cutter compliance. The delegates are nothing but props. Their role is go to the countless lobbyist prepared parties, have fun and be as extras for the show before you develop and then go home and rally-based support.

Last week, Barack Obama and his campaign staff controlled every aspect of the Convention, including, who the speakers what and how would it if everyone would appear and say for how long. Only President Clinton's speech was not verified. There will be no different this week with the Republicans, but the Republicans might be able to President Bush's speech to the time to check "so that it comedic as planned."

The television media that sound bite the atmosphere created "interesting visuals" and seven - second was required; and now the media are upset that politicians in their infomercial have nothing to say packed conventions that play to the camera. Cries the networks that the monsters are created, there is no message and cut away from what is interesting, as for example the speech of President Clinton-and turn the camera on themselves. The experts with their semi-erudite comments turgid and omniscient chatter, drilling now dominate 20-minute speech, viewers more than any politician's prime time coverage and do what you say is relevant. It is hard to believe that 16,000 members of the media credentials to cover which no messages found each Convention.

But is there any news. There are stories. The networks sit on your plush assets not managed to ditch these stories to help, better Americans concerning the problems to understand you. And so the celebrity-driven media spent more time the history of division between Hillary and Obama seeps forces than trying, to help Americans better understand the problems. If the mainstream media broadcast their color-coordinated stands and hospitality have done suites leave as the alternative media and result and pageantry, dig under which you can find the larger social and political need reported issues, as well as the magnificent "slice of life" stories that help us better understand you, our own lives.

The first TV conventions were the best emerging reality TV programming before the media sunk in, what would eat insect disgusting. America needs to be more real the conventions and the media.
